The world's first pure car truck carrier (PCTC) with a capacity of more than 10,000 vehicles set sail for sea trials on Tuesday in Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong province.

The vessel was built by Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI). It is 230 meters long and has a molded breadth of 40 meters and a structural draft of 10.5 meters, according to a statement released by GSI on Tuesday.

The vessel can reach a speed of 19 knots, equivalent to about 36 kilometers per hour. Featuring a 14-deck garage design, the ship can flexibly carry a diverse range of vehicles, including electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and heavy-duty trucks, with a maximum carrying capacity of 10,800 vehicles. It adopts a diesel and LNG dual-fuel propulsion system equipped with shaft generators, enabling power generation during navigation to achieve energy conservation and emission reduction, the statement said.

Meanwhile, it boasts excellent environmental performance and complies with the IMO Tier III emission standards, said the statement.
